You don’t need an icebreaker.
You almost never do.
And when you think you do,
you probably still don’t.
If the goal is to help people connect,
then give them something real to connect through.
Not a random question.
Not a “fun little game.”
Not a cringe exercise they’ll immediately forget.
Give them a task.
A challenge.
An idea worth reacting to.
Let them meet through the work.
Let the content break the ice.
Here’s what you often forget:
At the start of your workshop,
people actually like you.
You’ve got their GODWILL.
They showed up.
They’re curious.
They’re waiting for you to land something solid.
So don’t burn that goodwill
on something fluffy, off-topic, or low-impact.
They may smile.
They may play along.
But what they’re really thinking is:
“I hope this goes somewhere.”
Make it go somewhere.
Deliver something valuable. And do it fast.
Let the first connection be real, not forced.
You don’t need an icebreaker.
You need a reason to begin.
Thank you.
And Free Palestine.
